Brewers North 22, at Indians 11
For the first time in 13 years the Brewers took the field without their founder and all-around inspirational leader Joel Russell ... who basically deserted the team and moved away as far away as possible to Rhode Island. Luckily the the two-headed managerial crew of Woody and Malcolm were able to settle their nerves enough to fill out the line-up card without throwing up all over themselves. The new-look Brewers got off to a good start to the season with a 22-11 victory over the even newer-look Indians. The Brewers offense was led by Joe "Thirsty" Jacobitz and his 2 oppo-HR's and 4 RBI's. Also with multiple hits were Kosach (4), Petke (3), Woody (3), Rocca (2), and Wilcox (2). Other than a shaky final inning, the Brewers' pitching staff also got off to a good start. New Brewer Tyler Fitch started with 1 ER in 3 innings with 4 K's, Rocca pitched the next three for the W with 5 K's, and Dirty Willie befuddled hitters in the 7th with 1 K. And most suprisingly the Brewers only recorded 1 error for the game, which was unquestionably directly attributable to Joel's departure.
