SF Giants 35+ (W) 8, Sting 3 April 25, 2010, 10:00 AM Game Recap
SF Giants 35+ (W) 8, Sting 3
Wild one with a triple play.
Look out, the Sting have some sticks, and once their starting pitcher settled down after a 4 run first inning, it took a few breaks for the Giants to keep their distance.
In the 7th with bases loaded and nobody out the infield fly rule was called and the ball was dropped by the Giants first basemen. 2nd basemen Rob Noble picks it up and catches the runner on third off the bag - but despite everyone seeing an out, the field ump called him safe. The runner assumed he was out and didn't hear the call with all the screaming going on so he got up to walk away and was then tagged out - at which time the other two runners were taking off probably due to all of the confusion and the Giants got the runner on 2nd caught btwn 2nd and 3rd for the third out of the triple play.
Giants played their best defensive game in ages with some great scoops at first by Paul Bell and Al Garza and some hot shots nabbed at third by Joe Montiel. And the lack of a fence kept one Sting hitter from going yard twice. So with the sun, the moon and the stars alligned the Giants put their first win of the year on the board.
