Brewers North 9, Athletics 25+ 2
The Brewers beat the A's in a quick-paced wood bat game at Flood Park by the score of 9-2. The Brewers were paced by an excellent pitching performance. Ryan Brusco, long time Brewer, played his first game of the year and went the first 5 innings only giving up 2 runs with 4 K's and most suprisingly no walks. Apparently scaring schoolchildren as the principal of a clearly desperate school in the East Bay agrees with his control. To quote Mr. Hand from Fast Times at Ridgemont High School, "I weep for the future."
Mike Rocca pitched the next 3 innings giving up only 1 hit and no runs for the win. Mike had his best outing of the young season and is rounding into form. Apparently a weekend of debauchary in SD is what the doctor ordered. Also, apparently, no-show Brewer Casey Bivens now has an in with Frontier Airlines if anyone is looking for a deal.
New Brewer, Sam Petke, came in and closed down the last inning. Sam, as they say, brought the hammer for his 2 K's. Nice to have you aboard.
Offensively the Brewers pounded out 14 hits. They were paced by Adam Petke, who is off to a great start this season, and was 4-4 including a 3-run double. "Thirsty" Joe Jacobitz continued his life-long hitting tear by going 3-5 with 2 RBI's and 2 SB's. Jason "Bird" Barringer finally got the monkey off his back this year with a 3-4 day with 3 runs scored. Matt "Woody" Woodlief had 2 doubles for 3 RBI's, one of them after he was insulted by A Pet who had the audacity to ask him to bunt. Woody does not (really cannot) bunt.
