Brewers North 17, at Giants 25+ 5
The Brewers bats got going early and often vs. the Giants on Sunday at Moscone Park. In a wood bat game the Brewers scored 2 in the 1st and never looked back for a 17-5 victory that included 25 hits.
The Brewers got another strong pitching performance from Fitch and Rocca. Fitch, finally dried out from his weekend at Wrigley, went the first 5 innings striking out 6 for the W. Rocca, doing his best Catfish Hunter for the multi-inning save, went the next 4 with 5 K's.
Offensively the Brewers batted 12 men, and the top, middle and bottom of the order all produced. A Pet continued his torrid start going 4-5 with 3 RBI's, 3 runs scored, a double and an inside the park homer.
Woody, T-Money and Willie all had 3 hits on the day. Jimmy-Jeans, Bird, Thirsty, Malc and Kosach all managed 2 hits each. Dell chipped in with a gapper double, Rocca had a triple and S Pet had diving stab at short.
Besides a Dirty vs. Bizarro-Dirty showdown in the eighth (our Dirty lost), the next strangest thing was back-to-back triples by Rocca and Commissioner Heinicke in the fourth. I checked with Caesar's and the line on that happening was million-to-one against.
The Brewers are going to enjoy our week off, and if we can keep ourselves out of jail, brothels, casinos, gin-joints and speak-easy's we're looking to keep our momentum up leading into the summer.
