Brewers North 17, at Oakland Oaks 25+ 5
After taking a week off the Brewers' offense got back on track pounding out 21 hits for a 17-5 win over the Oaks at Canada College.
Fitch and Rocca again lead the team with a solid pitching outing. Fitch got the win going 6 innings with 2 ERs, 4 hits and striking out a season high 9. Rocca got the 3 inning save striking out 3.
It took a few innings but the Brewers offense finally got rolling in the 5th. The Oaks cut the score to 7-5 in the seventh, but the Brewers responded with 7 runs in the top of the eighth and then tacked on 3 more in the ninth.
Offensively the Brewers were lead by Woody who went 4-5 with a double, HR, 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs ... oh, and 2 SB's (thanks Bird). Bird was 3-5 with 4 runs scored, 2 RBIs and one stolen base of his own. Joe, of course, had 3 hits, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Kosach had a double and a sac fly for 3 RBIs. Malc "Ricky" Heinicke was 2-4 with 1 run scored, 3 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Dirty was 2-4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs. Thiago chipped in with 1 hit.
And Rocca finally showed some of his 2008 MVP form by going 4-6 with one run scored and 2 RBIs. Of course, when Woody mentioned this to his lovely wife Allison after the game she said, "but they were all bloopers." Rocca then picked up his purse and left the field.
And a special thanks to the left side our infield for making their first appearances of the year. Casey and his pickled liver played a flawless shortstop (1-1 on fielding chances) and had 1 hit and 2 runs scored. Psycho worked the count for 3 BB's and 1 run scored and had a game ending stab at 3rd that started a double play. Nice to have you guys back!
