Brewers North 11, Indians 7
The Brewers beat the Indians 11-7 on Sunday at the College of Marin.
Due to Filipino Pride Week the Brewers had to make due with out Dirty and Dell who were both out celebrating their heritage. We were also lucky to get Rocca and Trex back after their Brokeback Mountain retreat up in Tahoe.
Despite the Brewers defense doing everything in their power to screw it up, they still got great pitching performances from Fitch and Rocca. Neither pitcher gave up an earned run (though the Indians scored 7 due to some atrocious Brewers' defense), with Fitch striking out 8 for the W, and Rocca getting the 3 inning save despite being overserved all weekend long.
The Brewers pounded out 14 hits and were lead by Thiago with his 3 ropes and an RBI. Jimmy "Jeans", hitting like it was 2005, had a double and a triple and 3 RBI's. Barringer continued his season-long trend of hitting monster foul ball HR's and lasers at fielders, but still managed a double. Thirsty Joe had a single, and RBI, and now owes everyone a beer for swinging at a 3-0 pitch (Thanks!). Kosach had 2 hits and 2 RBI's and continues to be the most selective hitter in the league with 2 strikes. Woody tried to pop out to the catcher everytime up but managed one single. Wilcox, who for the record needs dead silence when he is hitting, had a double, a stolen base, and pirouette throw that ended up in the bullpen. Malc managed a walk, a run, a diving catch at second, and 2 wounded duck throws to Woody at first. Rocca had 2 bloop singles (Allison would be proud) and 2 BBs. And Tyler, after dislocating then relocating his shoulder hitting righty, managed his first hit of the year and also picked up an RBI.
A very old-school Brewers performance with some solid offense and great pitching nearly undone by a piss-poor performance in the field. Somewhere Joel is smiling.
