Brewers North 4, at Red Sox 3
The Brewers and Red Sox played a tight game on Sunday with the Brewers holding on for 4-3 victory in the first game of the championship series. Both teams were lead by great pitching, timely hitting and good defense as would be expected by the last two teams remaining.
The pitching combination of Fitch and Rocca had another great outing with Fitch going 7 strong innings for the W and Rocca finishing up the last 2. Fitch gave up 3 ER (all on SAC flys), walked 2 and had 6 K's. Rocca picked up the save while giving up no hits and only hitting one batter.
Offensively the Brewers got contributions from the top, middle and bottom of the line-up. Jimmy "Jeans" went 2-5 with a double and run scored. Bird was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Joe-Joe was 1-3. Dell was 1-4 with a ridiculous front foot, one arm solo HR. Kosach managed a BB, and Woody had 2 BBs. Malc was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Rocca picked up an RBI. Wilcox had a SB. Thiago had a hit and an RBI. And Willy had a double and an RBI.
Expect another great game next week when these 2 teams tangle again.
