Both teams needed this victory in order to gain a spot in the standings. Eddie Gamez went 8.1 inn with 156 total pitches. He kept the A's off balance all day, but after hitting 4 batters it was left to Josh Ganger to finish what Eddie had started. Rick Rushing threw a runner out at second and then a shot to center that was caught by George Khalaf to end the game. Jeff Diether's 2 run triple in the 5th put the Sting up. A throwing error at 3rd helped Jeff make the round trip and put the Sting up 5-4. Heads up base running by Chris Justen was the deciding factor in a 6-5 Sting victory. Eddie Gamez and Jeff Diether both had multiple hits for the game. And now, the post season. Opposing mgr addendum: Losing sucks but that game was fun.
