Kezar Brewers 3, Red Sox 2
The Brewers snuck by the Red Sox in game 2 of the championship series 3-2 on Sunday at MCHS.
The story for the Brewers was great pitching and some timely, I mean really timely, hitting.
Jared "Big Red" lead the way on the mound going all 9 innings. He shut down the potent Red Sox line-up only giving up 6 hits, 1 BB and 1 HBP while striking out 7. He only gave up 2 runs, both in the 8th, and then, while his brilliant manager considered taking him out, came back out and struck out the side in the 9th. Once again he stepped up in a must win situation ... but his biggest heroics were yet to come.
Offensively the Brewers were shut down by outstanding pitching all day. In fact the only hit the Brewers had all day until the 9th was Malc's solo-bomb (about time) in the 6th. Things were not looking good heading into the bottom of the 9th down 2-1. With one out in the inning Thiago got an infield single to beat all other infield singles as he cue-balled it right between the pitcher, 1st baseman and 2nd baseman. Then with 2 outs and Thiago still on 1st, Jared hit a shot to right center. With Thiago running like he was 25 again, the Brewers were sure to tie the game up ... but Jared hit it a little too well and it bounced over the fence for a ground rule double. So with 2 outs and men on 2nd and 3rd up step Barringer who was due. And on the first pitch he too hit a shot to right center that scored both runs for a dramatic walk off win.
Game 3 is this weekend at Albert Park in what surely will be another great game.
